"I've never been concerned with the length of a role; what matters is how much I can contribute to a character," he states.
The actor recalls a unique recognition moment, where his friends organized a 'Spot Murli Contest' due to his tendency to play supporting roles, often as a villain or a minister in a safari suit. This changed after the release of Maqbool and Main Hoon Na in 2004, directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and Farah Khan, respectively. "Those films were game-changers," Sharma reflects, "I still remember the thrill of being recognized by a group of college students at a theater in Vashi."
Embracing the OTT Challenge
When it came to his OTT debut in Super Subbu, Sharma wanted to make it special. He describes his character, Kukuteshwar Rao or Kuku, as "irritating yet interesting." The actor's enthusiasm lies in crafting these nuanced details, making the character memorable. "I enjoy the process of bringing these little quirks to life," he says.
Despite earlier offers, Sharma is glad he waited for the right project. "Super Subbu felt like the perfect fit," he adds, highlighting the importance of finding a role that resonates with his artistic vision.
